Scans and related wording
Meetings become searchable
Choose Transcribe for an audio or video item. Memni makes its spoken words searchable with your documents, and the work stays on your computer.
Multilingual search
Choose English for an English-only library, or Cross-language for documents in many languages: it finds a document written in one language from a question asked in another. Multilingual and Multilingual+ are smaller downloads, or bring your own compatible local model. Every library can use the model that fits its contents.

Document windows
Open a document in its own window to read it beside your search, and mark it up there.
Mark up PDFs in the reader or in a document’s own window. The inspector summarises your notes, and you can copy the summary as Markdown.

Linked notes
The note links to the agreement at its Term and renewal heading, to an amendment, and to an email. The inspector lists the notes that link here and the documents this note links to.
Memni keeps the text you had when you started editing, a version every ten minutes while you write, and the text before a large change. Compare a version with the current text, and restore it.
[[wiki links]] connect notes and documents, with completion while you type. [[Title#Heading]] opens a document at that heading, and [[#Heading]] jumps within the same note.
The inspector lists every note that links to the document you are reading.
Open any document in its default app, reveal it in the file manager, or export a copy.
Unread and flagged documents gather by themselves. Save any search to reopen it later.
Memni suggests a folder and tags taken from the documents most like the one you are filing.
Smart rules
A rule is a search plus actions: file, tag, flag, label, or rate. It runs by itself on new documents once their text is ready, or by hand after it shows how many documents it would change. Activity keeps a line for every run.
Colour labels and star ratings
Seven colours, each with a name, and ratings from one to five stars. Set them from the Info tab, the list’s menu, the command palette, or the keyboard, on one document or a whole selection. Search finds them with label: and rating:.
Copy a memni:// link and paste it into any app. A click opens Memni at that document.
Removed documents wait in the Trash until you empty it. The original file is never touched.
Add a folder and search its files without moving them into a new filing system.
Choose saved copies for a library that carries its own documents.

For sensitive work
Give a compatible assistant read-only access to a library, per tool and per library. The assistant receives search results, not your entire library.
Protect a library with a passphrase. Its saved copies, note text, annotations, and search data are encrypted on disk.

Memni reads documents and scans, prepares them for search, and finds matches on your computer. It goes online when you ask it to, such as saving a web page from its address.
