Write and link
Write notes that point to the exact page.
Markdown and plain-text notes save as you type and preview as you read. Link them to anything in the library, down to a heading.
Every link opens the document it names. A decision note that points to the agreement, an amendment, the email thread, and next year’s plans.

Every earlier draft, kept
Memni keeps the text you had when you started editing, a version every ten minutes while you write, and the text before a large change. Compare any version with the current text, and restore it.

Keep the folders you have. Add tags, flags, colour labels, and star ratings. Then let smart rules do the filing.

Smart rules
A rule is a search plus actions: file, tag, flag, label, or rate. It runs on new documents once their text is ready, or by hand after showing how many documents it would change. Activity keeps a line for every run.

Seven named colours and one to five stars, set from the keyboard, the command palette, or a whole selection at once. Search finds them with

Your library is a folder on your disk.
Search runs on this computer.
Keyword search, meaning-based search, text recognition for scans, and transcription all run locally.
Nothing leaves unless you ask.
Memni does not upload your documents or your searches. It goes online when you ask it to, such as saving a web page from its address.
Lock a library with a passphrase.
The library, its saved copies, note text, annotations, and search data are encrypted on disk.
Your folders stay where they are.
Link a folder and Memni reads the files in place, including OneDrive files. Or keep a saved copy inside the library.
